Mumias Sugar Company undertakes its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through Mumias Sugar Foundation. As part of the Mumias Sugar Company Strategic plan for 2012/17, community engagement was identified as a critical component that will enable the company to establish and expand the availability of sugarcane which is the primary raw material for the factory. As a result Mumias Sugar Foundation - MSF was conceived.
MSF is therefore a charitable trust fund founded by Mumias Sugar Company in 2012 to spearhead its community social investment. It was established in 2012 and started full operation in 2013.
The Foundation is headed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the board of MSC in accordance with the deed.
The MSC Managing Director/CEO bears overall executive authority for the Foundation as delegated by Board of Trustees. Functionally the foundation reports to the Manager Corporate Affairs and Strategy.
The day to day running of the Foundation is undertaken by secretariat headed by the Foundation Manager who is responsible for execution and implementation of agreed community projects and supported by a team drawn from internal human resource and existing corporate affairs/CSR function.
